![]() Nothing in the game feels like a wasted action. Making glue on a fire or mining iron, or whacking a fuckin' zombie. Which is great for that MMORPG style endorphin rush. Generators with a wiring systems - it's good shit pal.Įverything gives XP. Turret systems, painting, cosmetics, sensors. I don't get too advanced with builds, but there is a HUGE selection of 'frames' which are the modular building block. Plus you can use an upgrade tool, to simply right click blocks to upgrade them, which is a really simple and enjoyable system. It's minecrafty in terms of placement, with structural integrity kind of baked in. This extends your options a lot in the game, love it.īasebuilding is addicting. The world is terraformable - You can mine and make underground tunnels. 'Stay away from the church graveyard, it's got mines on!'. You end up knowing exactly where things are, it's a good feeling. Go out and find another place far away, or do a trading run. You make your base, and your local area your own. Kind of like Minecraft, you come to love your little slice of life in game. I would prefer levelling-by-doing like some mods have implemented, but the perk system also offers the same satisfaction There's loads, and you REALLY notice each perk point in terms of their benefits. A strong onga-bonga club man? A jumping parkour dude who loves using pistols? A stealthy archer who can sneak attack. You can spec perk points into different builds. Honestly, no other game has had such a good feeling of looting a gaff. Some of these buildings are HUGE too, it's addicting. I would play this game without the zombies just to dismantle buildings it's that fun. It's so fun to be a looting locust and haul shit back like a rag and bone man. Rip radiators and beds from a room, check trash cans, kitchen cupboards, break down dryers. A lot of the game you are in these buildings looting, like a thief. Never have you seen a man happier when he finds brass doorknobs in a dumpster. Even though the game can be batshit on horde nights (every 7 days) the game can also be a great podcast game. Every poi has loot loot loot and stuff you always need.Įverything is craftable into something useful and you can wittle away in your base at night making stuff. Big streets, department stores, skyscrapers. Honestly, some of the cities are amazing in terms of their stiching together. The aforementioned buildings, and randomly gen'd world. To help with suggestions i'll list exactly why I find 7 Days so engrossing: I would love to know of similar games, because I always get a bit sad when i'm 'done' with 7 Days for a bit, nothing else out there scratches the same itches. It makes such good maps filled with POIs which are basically buildings which are treated like mini-dungeons (A clear start and exit point). I've been coming back to 7 Days since I purchased it in 2014, and the latest A20 version has been the best due to it's random world generation. Before I start, please see the games i've already tried at the bottom, under the TL:DR segment, for those who don't want to read my extended thoughts.
